4th – 6th June 2025 | Ghent, Belgium

The TENTACLE project was represented at AFPM 2025 – Advanced Functional Polymers for Medicine, where Dr. Rui Pedro Silva (Ghent University) presented a poster contribution based on research developed collaboratively within the project.

The poster, titled “3D-bioprinting of hydrogel-based scaffolds for colorectal mucosa regeneration”, outlined the development of gelatin-based hydrogels engineered to reproduce the mechanical performance and cellular microenvironment of native colorectal tissue.

The research addresses two major conditions affecting over 2 million people in Europe — Ulcerative Colitis and Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP) — for which current surgical treatments often fail to restore full biomechanical function, resulting in reduced quality of life.

TENTACLE continues to make its mark on the European scientific landscape, fostering collaboration and innovation in the field of tissue regeneration. The project’s presence at major conferences like AFPM 2025 is just one of the many ways in which it contributes to the advancement of biomedical research.
