20th May 2025 | Freiburg, Germany
At the TERMIS EU 2025 congress in Freiburg, Germany – held from May 19th to 23rd – Professor Giovanni Vozzi of the Horizon Europe project TENTACLE, presented the initiative during May 20th session “4D Tissue Engineering: Widening the Control over Cell’s Microenvironment”.
During his presentation, titled “Innovative in situ 4D bioprinting for regeneration of colorectal mucosa and submucosa”, Prof. Vozzi highlighted the project’s ambition to provide a less invasive, regenerative therapeutic option for patients affected by Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP) and Ulcerative Colitis (UC) — two high-risk conditions often leading to colorectal cancer.
TENTACLE is developing a novel in situ bioprinting platform, capable of printing bioengineered tissue directly inside the human body. This cutting-edge technology combines 4D bioprinting, advanced biomaterials, and smart hydrogels, to promote tissue regeneration with minimal surgical impact.
The TERMIS EU 2025 congress offered a valuable opportunity to share progress and exchange insights with leading experts in tissue engineering, biomaterials, and regenerative medicine, reinforcing our mission: to transform colorectal disease treatment through innovation.
TENTACLE seeks to redefine how colorectal diseases are treated, by leveraging cutting-edge advances in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
