20th-21st January 2025 | Würzburg, Germany

TENTACLE is an ambitious EU-funded project and has officially launched with its kick-off meeting in Würzburg, bringing together leading scientists, surgeons, and medical experts from across Europe. With a strong focus on minimally invasive surgery, in-situ 4D bioprinting and precision medicine, TENTACLE aims to revolutionize colorectal disease treatment by reducing patient trauma and improving surgical outcomes that are one of the major struggles for patients.

Financed by the European Union under the Horizon Europe program, TENTACLE is a four-year project backed by over 7 million euros. The consortium consists of 10 partners from 6 European countries, bringing together expertise in biomedical engineering, tissue engineering, and endoscopic surgery to explore innovative, patient-centred solutions.

The two-day meeting served as a crucial starting point for defining project milestones, research strategies, and collaborative efforts. Discussions covered all kind of topics: from the integration of 4D bioprinting technologies into endoscopic procedures to the roadmap for clinical validation.

By leveraging cutting-edge bioprinting and regenerative medicine techniques, TENTACLE seeks to set new standards for minimally invasive surgical procedures, ensuring safer and more effective treatments for patients across Europe.
